Industry support required for the adoption of international standards for generic customer cabling for information technology

The current Australian and New Zealand standard AS/NZS 3080 for generic customer cabling is based on the international standard ISO/IEC 11801 which is currently under revision.  With ISO/IEC 11801 undergoing a major revision the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS3080 needs to be updated in line with ISO/IEC 11801 to remain relevant. The ISO/IEC 11801-x series is currently at Final Draft stage and is expected to be finalised on 15th September 2017. ISO/IEC 11801 is planned to be broken down into six parts and additionally a number of standards, technical specifications and technical reports have been or are under development. As such a project proposal has been sent to Standards Australia to adopt these standards, technical specifications and technical reports within Australia and New Zealand. As part of the Standards Australia project prioritisation submission, Standards Australia looks for evidence of broader stakeholder support as part of their assessment.
