JTC1 SC25 WG3 Day 1
Day one of WG 3 finished with as many questions as were answered. The meeting was informed that IEEE 802.3CG had been published which deals with one pair Ethernet delivering 10 MBits/s. Clearly an application designed for the delivery of IoT Services.
The scope of JTC1 SC25 change to include IoT was confirmed within the meeting.
The question of multidrop Ethernet suitability to be included within ISO/IEC 11801 series was a clear no, however if multidrop ethernet physical layer should be part of JTC1 SC25 WG3 work, was not clearly resolved within the meeting today.
The other issue of interest was coupling attenuation and Alien crosstalk requirements for Category 8 (Class I and Class II) systems.
The outcome of this discussion will be resolved, however the participates in the discussion are clearly passionate on the subject- Stay turned.
Lawrence McKenna (CT001) and Wayne Allen (CT001-002) added to the Australian presence at the meeting while Standards Australia venue and support were invaluable. Standards Australia efforts particularly as a result of the coronavirus has been outstanding.
