Remote power feeding over telecommunications cabling has become a hot issue for the industry.

Remote power feeding over telecommunications cabling has become a hot issue for the industry. Work is currently being undertaken internationally and in Australia to address potential safety and performance issues. It is proposed that 100 watts of power will run over telecommunications cabling to support applications like lighting. ISO IEC JTC1 WG3, CECRP, CT1, CENELEC and  IEEE 802.3 Working Groups are currently addressing the related issues associated with remote power feeds. The remote power feeds issue effects more than POE applications
